R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For 50 years, families have come together to |
|
|
celebrate their faith at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waco, and |
|
|
that landmark anniversary is being celebrated with a special mass |
|
|
and banquet on June 30, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated on that date in 1957 by the Bishop of |
|
|
Austin, the Reverend Louis J. Reicher, Sacred Heart Catholic Church |
|
|
has played a vital role in the Waco community in the decades since, |
|
|
providing its members with a welcome opportunity for spiritual |
|
|
growth, fellowship, and community outreach; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The congregation has been blessed with |
|
|
compassionate and able leaders through the years; a key figure in |
|
|
the church's early growth was Father Miguel Rigo, who was pastor |
|
|
from 1962 to 1965 and set the precedent for dedicated service that |
|
|
has been followed by his successors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For half a century, Sacred Heart Catholic Church has |
|
|
been a source of strength and guidance to those who have worshipped |
|
|
there, and the church stands as a tribute to the faith and |
|
|
dedication of its members, both past and present, who have devoted |
|
|
their time, prayers, and resources to ensure its continued |
|
|
existence; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Waco on |
|
|
the golden anniversary of its dedication and extend to its members |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Sacred Heart Catholic Church as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
