R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Seiji Yamaguchi has been instrumental in
  establishing Texas Farm as a leading business in Perryton; and
         WHEREAS, A subsidiary of the Japanese corporation Nippon Meat
  Packers, Texas Farm is an industry leader in pork production;
  employing more than 300 workers, the company has become a valuable
  contributor to the economy of Perryton over the past 12 years, with
  annual sales of $92 million; and
         WHEREAS, The farm was established in the Lone Star State
  through the combined recruitment efforts of the Texas Department of
  Commerce, the Texas Department of Agriculture, and other economic
  development institutions; at the time of its founding, Texas Farm
  represented the single largest investment in American agriculture
  by a Japanese business, with an initial investment of $100 million;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Yamaguchi moved to Perryton from Osaka, Japan,
  in 1995 to oversee the establishment of Texas Farm; in the years
  since, he and the company have embodied the spirit of community
  partnership by contributing thousands of hours of volunteer service
  to Perryton, Ochiltree County, and the greater Panhandle region;
  and
         WHEREAS, In recognition of the contributions of Mr. Yamaguchi
  and Texas Farm, the community leaders of Perryton nominated Texas
  Farm for the National Points of Light Foundation Community Champion
  Award; and
         WHEREAS, Recently promoted to a senior management position
  with Nippon Meat Packers, Mr. Yamaguchi will be returning to Tokyo
  with his wife, Seiko, and their children, Shota and Yuta, and they
  leave behind many friends who wish them well as they start this new
  chapter of their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Seiji Yamaguchi for his role in
  establishing Texas Farm as a major business in Perryton and
  congratulate him on his promotion with Nippon Meat Packers; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Yamaguchi as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
