R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Emerson Lucas has been named the 2006-2007 Salazar |
|
|
Elementary School Teacher of the Year in recognition of his |
|
|
outstanding efforts as an educator in the Alice Independent School |
|
|
District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Inspired to join the teaching profession by his |
|
|
father, Mr. Lucas began his career in the Philippines, where he was |
|
|
an instructor and coach; he also conducted in-service training for |
|
|
his colleagues based on the latest research in the field; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After settling in the United States, Mr. Lucas faced |
|
|
new challenges as a teacher from another country; he had to work on |
|
|
his language and communication skills, but he had the strong |
|
|
support of his principal and fellow faculty members, and he has |
|
|
flourished in his work as a fourth-grade teacher at Salazar |
|
|
Elementary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Setting professional standards to which all in his |
|
|
field may aspire, Mr. Lucas has invested his time and talents in |
|
|
developing the Lone Star State's most precious resource, its |
|
|
children, and he has opened up many young minds to the joys of |
|
|
learning; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Emerson Lucas on his selection as |
|
|
the 2006-2007 Salazar Elementary School Teacher of the Year and |
|
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Lucas as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
