R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Ramiro Pena has been named the 2006-2007 William |
|
Adams Middle School Teacher of the Year; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Pena first became interested in teaching while |
|
serving in Germany as a member of the U.S. Army; though he had |
|
planned to become a U.S. Border Patrol agent after his military |
|
service concluded, his career goals began to change when he was |
|
exposed to the history and culture of Europe; returning to Texas, he |
|
enrolled at Texas A&M University--Kingsville and decided to pursue |
|
a career in education; and |
|
WHEREAS, A history and social studies teacher for the Alice |
|
Independent School District, Mr. Pena draws some of his inspiration |
|
from his own school days; he remembers being a challenging student |
|
for his teachers, and he uses this experience to reach those young |
|
people who are considered "difficult"; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his 11 years in Alice ISD, Ramiro Pena |
|
has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic achievement, |
|
and he has greatly benefited his students with his hard work and |
|
dedication to fulfilling their educational needs; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Ramiro Pena on his selection as the |
|
2006-2007 William Adams Middle School Teacher of the Year and |
|
extend to him best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Pena as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
