R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Clarissa Ann Balli has been named valedictorian of
  the Class of 2007 at Donna High School, and for achieving this
  significant honor, she indeed merits special recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude, but four years of dedication to the highest
  academic standards, and Ms. Balli's efforts have been recognized
  with numerous awards, including the English IV AP award, the
  communications applications award, the economics ADV award, the
  government AP award, and the science achievement award; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her impressive academic
  achievements, Ms. Balli was a member of the varsity volleyball
  team, which advanced to the state playoffs in 2005 and 2006, a
  varsity cheerleader, and a discus competitor on the varsity track
  and field team; she was also president of the school's National
  Honor Society chapter, a member of the Ventures Scholars Program,
  and a member of the National Youth Leadership Forum's Alumni
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Balli shared her time and talents with her
  community as a volunteer for hospice and the Toys for Tots holiday
  campaign, and she organized student participation in a blood drive;
  having completed 20 hours of college credit at The University of
  Texas--Pan American and South Texas College, she is well on her way
  to obtaining a degree at Rice University, where she plans to study
  biology; and
         WHEREAS, Clarissa Balli has earned the respect and admiration
  of her teachers and classmates at Donna High School, and her
  exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to
  excellence have surely opened the way to limitless opportunities
  for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Clarissa Ann Balli on being named
  the 2007 valedictorian at Donna High School and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Balli as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
