R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Clarissa Ann Balli has been named valedictorian of |
|
|
the Class of 2007 at Donna High School, and for achieving this |
|
|
significant honor, she indeed merits special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but four years of dedication to the highest |
|
|
academic standards, and Ms. Balli's efforts have been recognized |
|
|
with numerous awards, including the English IV AP award, the |
|
|
communications applications award, the economics ADV award, the |
|
|
government AP award, and the science achievement award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to her impressive academic |
|
|
achievements, Ms. Balli was a member of the varsity volleyball |
|
|
team, which advanced to the state playoffs in 2005 and 2006, a |
|
|
varsity cheerleader, and a discus competitor on the varsity track |
|
|
and field team; she was also president of the school's National |
|
|
Honor Society chapter, a member of the Ventures Scholars Program, |
|
|
and a member of the National Youth Leadership Forum's Alumni |
|
|
Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Balli shared her time and talents with her |
|
|
community as a volunteer for hospice and the Toys for Tots holiday |
|
|
campaign, and she organized student participation in a blood drive; |
|
|
having completed 20 hours of college credit at The University of |
|
|
Texas--Pan American and South Texas College, she is well on her way |
|
|
to obtaining a degree at Rice University, where she plans to study |
|
|
biology; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Clarissa Balli has earned the respect and admiration |
|
|
of her teachers and classmates at Donna High School, and her |
|
|
exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to |
|
|
excellence have surely opened the way to limitless opportunities |
|
|
for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Clarissa Ann Balli on being named |
|
|
the 2007 valedictorian at Donna High School and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Balli as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
