R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Melody Michelle Swinnea of Weslaco, beloved wife,
  daughter, and friend, passed away on March 19, 2007, at the age of
  27, and memories of happy times spent in her company remain to
  comfort those who held her dear; and
         WHEREAS, Born on May 26, 1979, in McAllen, the former Melody
  Pursley graduated in 1997 from Edinburg North High School, where
  she was a varsity cheerleader and an active member of FFA; she went
  on to earn a bachelor's degree in marketing in 2001 from The
  University of Texas--Pan American and to pursue a career as a
  pharmaceutical sales representative; in addition to her
  professional career at Reliant Pharmaceuticals, she was a member of
  the Junior League of Harlingen; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Swinnea was the devoted wife of Brad Swinnea,
  whom she married on August 2, 2003, and together they enjoyed
  hunting, fishing, and traveling; an animal lover since childhood,
  she also took great pleasure in the company of her horse, Sunset,
  and her poodles, Beau and Belle; and
         WHEREAS, Melody Swinnea brought joy into the lives of
  countless people with her enthusiasm, warmth, and generosity;
  although her time on this earth was far too brief, those who were
  privileged to share in her love and friendship will forever hold her
  close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Melody Michelle
  Swinnea and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to
  her husband, Brad Swinnea; to her parents, Harold and Janet
  Pursley; to her sister, Heather Pursley; to her grandmothers,
  Mildred Pursley and Betty Ann Hall; to her uncles, Robert, Doug, and
  John Purvis, Rocky Pursley, and R. H. Pursley and his wife, Kelly;
  to her aunts, Mary Beth Purvis and Cyndi Gonzalez and her husband,
  Frank; to her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Sharon
  Swinnea; to her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Tessa
  Swinnea and their daughter, Hayley; and to her other relatives and
  many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Melody
  Swinnea.
