R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Jacqueline Renee Valdez has been named salutatorian |
|
|
of the Class of 2007 at Weslaco East High School, and for achieving |
|
|
this significant honor, she indeed merits special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but four years of dedication to the highest |
|
|
academic standards; the student who garners this coveted |
|
|
distinction must demonstrate a thorough understanding of a wide |
|
|
range of subjects, from math and science to language arts and social |
|
|
studies, yet the rewards of the countless hours of study and |
|
|
preparation are myriad; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Valdez has excelled in both academics and |
|
|
extracurricular activities throughout her tenure at Weslaco East |
|
|
High School; a member of the National Honor Society, woodwind |
|
|
captain of the Wildcat Regiment Band, and varsity captain of the |
|
|
Lady Wildcat basketball team, she has participated in track and |
|
|
field and volunteered with her church and the American Cancer |
|
|
Society; her efforts have earned her a number of accolades, |
|
|
including the Rotary Leadership Award and the U.S. Army National |
|
|
Scholar/Athlete Award, as well as all-district and MVP honors in |
|
|
basketball; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Valdez has earned the respect and admiration of |
|
|
her teachers and classmates at Weslaco East High School, and her |
|
|
exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to |
|
|
excellence have surely opened the way to limitless opportunities |
|
|
for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jacqueline Renee Valdez on being |
|
|
named the 2007 salutatorian for Weslaco East High School and extend |
|
|
to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Valdez as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
