R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Miriam Aceves has been named valedictorian of the |
|
|
Class of 2007 at Weslaco East High School, and for achieving this |
|
|
significant honor, she indeed merits special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but four years of dedication to the highest |
|
|
academic standards; the student who garners this coveted |
|
|
distinction must demonstrate a thorough understanding of a wide |
|
|
range of subjects, from math and science to language arts and social |
|
|
studies, yet the rewards of the countless hours of study and |
|
|
preparation are myriad; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Aceves has excelled in both academics and |
|
|
extracurricular activities throughout her tenure at Weslaco East |
|
|
High School; a valued member of the school's UIL Literary Criticism |
|
|
team, she placed first in the event at both the district and |
|
|
regional levels; moreover, she is a National Hispanic Scholar, |
|
|
earned English I and English Literature Achievement Awards, and is |
|
|
a member of the National Honor Society and her school's mariachi |
|
|
group; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Aceves has earned the respect and admiration of |
|
|
her teachers and classmates at Weslaco East High School, and her |
|
|
exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to |
|
|
excellence have surely opened the way to limitless opportunities |
|
|
for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Miriam Aceves on being named the |
|
|
2007 valedictorian of Weslaco East High School and extend to her |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Aceves as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
