R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments may comfort the family and friends of
  Dorman Wayne Tidwell of Fort Worth, who passed away on May 25, 2007,
  at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Tidwell grew up in West
  Texas and attended The University of Texas at Austin; arriving at
  the school with only $10 in his pocket, he paid for his room and
  board by washing dishes three times a day; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Tidwell later enjoyed a long and successful
  career as a certified public accountant; in 1950, he cofounded
  Weaver and Tidwell, which has grown to become the largest
  independent accounting firm in the Southwest; he was recognized for
  his many professional accomplishments in 1994, when the College of
  Business Administration at Abilene Christian University named him a
  Distinguished Business Leader; and
         WHEREAS, Active in his community, this notable Texan held
  leadership positions with a number of worthwhile professional,
  educational, and civic endeavors; he was a valued member of
  Southside Church of Christ for many years, serving his congregation
  as an elder for more than three decades, and later attended Park
  Hill Church of Christ and Lakewood Village Church of Christ; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Tidwell was devoted to his family, sharing 63
  years with his beloved wife, Mozelle, and providing wise and tender
  guidance to his children, Linda, David, and Donna; and
         WHEREAS, Although his death has brought great sorrow to the
  many people who were privileged to know this remarkable man, Wayne
  Tidwell leaves behind a legacy of good works that will long resonate
  in the lives of those he touched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dorman Wayne
  Tidwell and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his children, Linda Hicks, David Tidwell, and Donna Stockton-Hicks;
  to his seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and to
  all those who mourn his passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Wayne
  Tidwell.
