R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Roxanne Nichole Garza, administrative assistant in |
|
|
the office of Representative Norma Chavez, has been accepted into |
|
|
the 2007 Teach For America corps; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Ms. Garza attended The |
|
|
University of Texas at El Paso for a year before transferring to The |
|
|
University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a bachelor's degree |
|
|
in advertising in May 2007; she served on the College of |
|
|
Communication Council and its Student Outreach and Student-Faculty |
|
|
Committees and helped facilitate the Seniors in Communication Day; |
|
|
moreover, as public relations director for Beta Alpha Rho, she |
|
|
promoted membership in the pre-law fraternity to one of its highest |
|
|
levels; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This talented and hardworking young woman has |
|
|
successfully balanced her school and job duties throughout her |
|
|
undergraduate career; joining Representative Chavez's staff in |
|
|
2004, she has since been entrusted with many diverse |
|
|
responsibilities in both the Capitol and district offices, and she |
|
|
served as an essential member of the representative's reelection |
|
|
campaign in spring 2006; from scheduling appointments and |
|
|
organizing events to constituent and community outreach, "Rox," as |
|
|
she is affectionately called by Representative Chavez, has |
|
|
consistently impressed her colleagues with her professionalism, |
|
|
her sharp insights, and her attention to detail; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Equipped with this extensive public service |
|
|
experience, Ms. Garza will no doubt prove an invaluable asset to |
|
|
Teach For America, which enlists outstanding recent college |
|
|
graduates to teach in public schools in the nation's lowest-income |
|
|
communities, and with her drive, energy, and commitment to |
|
|
excellence, she may look with anticipation and optimism toward a |
|
|
future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Roxanne Nichole Garza on her |
|
|
acceptance into the 2007 Teach For America corps and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success in all of her endeavors; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
