R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Stephanie Schnabel has been named valedictorian of
  the Class of 2007 at La Porte High School, and for achieving this
  significant honor, she indeed merits special recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude, but four years of dedication to the highest
  academic standards; the student who garners this coveted
  distinction must demonstrate a thorough understanding of a wide
  range of subjects, from math and science to language arts and social
  studies, yet the rewards of the countless hours of study and
  preparation are myriad; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to the pride inherent in being
  recognized as the highest achieving student in the class, the
  valedictorian is frequently the recipient of scholarships and
  grants; she also gains the opportunity to address her fellow
  seniors at commencement and to reflect on their shared history as
  well as their hopes and ambitions for the future; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Kirby and Patricia
  Schnabel, Stephanie Schnabel earned a 5.24 grade point average
  during high school; she is a member of the National Honor Society
  and the vice president of the local chapter of the Mu Alpha Theta
  mathematics honor society, and she teaches calculus II to high
  school and college students through a grant from San Jacinto
  College; Ms. Schnabel has also taken part in extracurricular
  activities, serving as a dance lieutenant with the band color
  guard, playing viola in the orchestra, and serving as secretary of
  the organization Outreach to People Everywhere; she intends to
  study premed and biology studies at Baylor University; and
         WHEREAS, Stephanie Schnabel has earned the respect and
  admiration of her teachers and classmates at La Porte High, and her
  exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to
  excellence have surely opened the way to limitless opportunities
  for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Stephanie Schnabel on being named
  the 2007 valedictorian for La Porte High School and extend to her
  best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Schnabel as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
