A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to creation of a minimum data set for the collection of |
|
|
information on health professionals by the statewide health |
|
|
coordinating council. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 105.003, Health and Safety Code, is |
|
|
amended by amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (f) to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(c) At a minimum, the data collected by the council must |
|
|
include the following in regard to each health professional |
|
|
[professionals]: |
|
|
(1) full name and last four digits of |
|
|
social security |
|
|
number; |
|
|
(2) certification, registration, or licensure |
|
|
information, including certification, registration, or license |
|
|
number, issuance date, method of certification, registration, or |
|
|
licensure, and certification, registration, or licensure status; |
|
|
(3) biographical information, including sex, race or |
|
|
ethnicity, date and place of birth, and full mailing address; |
|
|
(4) educational background and training, including |
|
|
high school location, highest professional degree obtained, |
|
|
professional school name and location, and graduation year; |
|
|
(5) primary practice information, including primary |
|
|
specialty practice, location of practice, full mailing address of |
|
|
practice, county federal information processing standards code, |
|
|
number of hours per week spent at primary practice location, and |
|
|
description of practice setting; and |
|
|
(6) secondary practice information, including |
|
|
practice location zip code and county federal information |
|
|
processing standards code |
|
|
[(1)their number and geographic distribution;
|
|
|
[(2)licensure or certification status;
|
|
|
[(3)specialty areas, if applicable; and
|
|
|
[(4) trends or changes in license holders according to
|
|
|
number or geographic distribution]. |
|
|
(f) A state board, agency, or association that certifies, |
|
|
registers, or licenses a health professional in this state shall |
|
|
collect on behalf of the council the information required by the |
|
|
minimum data set established under Subsection (c). The council and |
|
|
a state board, agency, or association that collects data on behalf |
|
|
of the council may enter into an interagency contract regarding the |
|
|
data collection. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
