A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a registry of allied health professionals. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 105, Health and Safety Code, is amended |
|
by adding Section 105.009 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 105.009. REGISTRY OF ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS. (a) |
|
The council shall establish a registry for all allied health |
|
professionals containing information to be used for health |
|
workforce studies. |
|
(b) The registry shall include the following information |
|
about each allied health professional: |
|
(1) educational background; |
|
(2) profession; |
|
(3) specialty, if any; |
|
(4) place of practice; and |
|
(5) full-time or part-time employment status. |
|
(c) A state board, agency, or association that certifies, |
|
registers, or licenses a health professional in this state shall |
|
collect on behalf of the council the information required under |
|
Subsection (b). The council and a state board, agency, or |
|
association that collects data on behalf of the council may enter |
|
into an interagency contract regarding the data collection. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
