A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to allowing the State Preservation Board to purchase,
lease, or maintain indoor plants for the Capitol or Capitol
extension.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Section 2113.105, Government Code, is amended to
read as follows:
       Sec. 2113.105.  INDOOR PLANTS. A state agency may not use
appropriated money to purchase, lease, or maintain a live or
artificial indoor plant unless the agency is:
             (1)  an institution of higher education and the plant
is to be used for educational or research purposes; or
             (2)  the State Preservation Board and the plant is to be
placed in the Capitol or Capitol extension.
       SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
