A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to continuing education in sustainable and |
|
|
energy-efficient design standards for a person registered by the |
|
|
Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 1051.356, Occupations Code, is amended |
|
|
by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (b-1) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(b) The continuing education programs: |
|
|
(1) must include courses relating to sustainable or |
|
|
energy-efficient design standards; and |
|
|
(2) may include courses relating to: |
|
|
(A) [(1)] health, safety, or welfare; or |
|
|
(B) [(2)] barrier-free design. |
|
|
(b-1) As part of a certificate holder's continuing |
|
|
education requirements for each annual registration period, the |
|
|
board by rule shall require the certificate holder to complete at |
|
|
least one hour of continuing education relating to sustainable or |
|
|
energy-efficient design standards. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|
|
an application for the renewal of a certificate of registration |
|
|
that is filed with the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners on or |
|
|
after September 1, 2008. An application for the renewal of a |
|
|
certificate of registration filed before September 1, 2008, is |
|
|
governed by the law in effect immediately before the effective date |
|
|
of this Act, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
|
|
purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. Not later than January 1, 2008, the Texas Board |
|
|
of Architectural Examiners shall adopt rules, procedures, forms, |
|
|
and fees under Section 1051.356, Occupations Code, as amended by |
|
|
this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
