A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the authority of the Edwards Aquifer Authority to adopt
  rules relating to fire control.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Article 1, Chapter 626, Acts of the 73rd
  Legislature, Regular Session, 1993, is amended by adding Section
  1.081 to read as follows:
         Sec. 1.081.  FIRE CONTROL. To protect the water quality of
  the aquifer, the board shall adopt rules regarding the control of
  fires in the aquifer's recharge zone.  In adopting rules under this
  section, the board shall consult with fire departments and fire
  marshals with jurisdiction over the recharge zone.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
