A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to special notice to the news media of the meeting of a
  governmental body in certain situations under the open meetings
  law.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subsection (c), Section 551.047, Government
  Code, is amended to read as follows:
         (c)  The presiding officer or member shall give the notice by
  telephone, facsimile transmission, or electronic mail [telegraph].
         SECTION 2.  Subsection (b), Section 551.052, Government
  Code, is amended to read as follows:
         (b)  The notice shall be by telephone, facsimile
  transmission, or electronic mail [telegraph].
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
