A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to political activities of labor organizations that accept |
|
|
certain public funds; providing a criminal penalty. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 253.094, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(b-1) A labor organization that represents peace officers |
|
|
and that accepts a grant or appropriated money from a state agency |
|
|
may not: |
|
|
(1) establish a political committee; |
|
|
(2) assist a political committee in performing |
|
|
political activities; or |
|
|
(3) make a political contribution or political |
|
|
expenditure. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
