A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|

relating to prohibiting human cloning; providing a penalty. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subtitle H, Title 2, Health and Safety Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Chapter 169 to read as follows: |
|
|
CHAPTER 169. USE OF HUMAN CELLS AND TISSUE |
|
|
Sec. 169.001. HUMAN CLONING. (a) A person commits an |
|
|
offense if the person places in a woman a human embryo created by a |
|
|
method other than fertilization. |
|
|
(b) An offense under this section is a felony of the first |
|
|
degree. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
