A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to an allotment under the Foundation School Program for
  certain students who are military dependents.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 42.152, Education Code, is amended by
  adding Subsections (a-1) and (c-3) to read as follows:
         (a-1)  In addition to the allotment provided under
  Subsection (a), a school district is entitled to an annual
  allotment equal to the adjusted basic allotment multiplied by 0.1
  for each student in average daily attendance who has a parent or
  guardian who is serving on active duty in a combat zone as a member
  of the armed forces of the United States or the state military
  forces.
         (c-3)  Notwithstanding any other provision of this section,
  a school district may only use funds allotted to the district under
  Subsection (a-1) to provide supplemental programs and services
  described by Subsection (c) for students described by Subsection
  (a-1) who are enrolled in the district.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
