A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of a groundwater conservation district to |
|
|
require reports on annual groundwater withdrawals. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 36.111, Water Code, is amended to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
Sec. 36.111. RECORDS AND REPORTS. (a) The district shall |
|
|
require that records be kept and reports be made of the drilling, |
|
|
equipping, and completing of water wells and of the production and |
|
|
use of groundwater. |
|
|
(b) The district may require all well operators, |
|
|
groundwater producers, and other groundwater users, including well |
|
|
operators, groundwater producers, and other groundwater users |
|
|
exempt under Section 36.117, to report annual groundwater |
|
|
withdrawals. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
