AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the amount of a judgment that may be appealed from small |
|
|
claims court. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 28.052, Government Code, |
|
|
is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) If the amount in controversy, exclusive of costs, |
|
|
exceeds $250 [$20], a dissatisfied party may appeal the final |
|
|
judgment to the county court or county court at law. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies only to a cause of action filed |
|
|
on or after the effective date of this Act. A cause of action filed |
|
|
before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in |
|
|
effect at the time the cause of action was filed, and that law is |
|
|
continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
