A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the development by the Texas Education Agency of a list
  of resources concerning Internet safety for use by school
  districts.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 38, Education Code, is
  amended by adding Section 38.023 to read as follows:
         Sec. 38.023.  LIST OF RESOURCES CONCERNING INTERNET SAFETY.
  The agency shall develop and make available to school districts a
  list of resources concerning Internet safety, including a list of
  organizations and Internet websites that may assist in educating
  teachers and students about:
               (1)  the potential dangers of allowing personal
  information to appear on an Internet website;
               (2)  the significance of copyright laws; and
               (3)  the consequences of cyber-plagiarism and theft of
  audiovisual works, including motion pictures, software, and sound
  recordings, through uploading and downloading files on the
  Internet.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
