A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

|
relating to designating the Donor Education, Awareness, and |
|
|
Registry Program of Texas as the Glenda Dawson Donate Life-Texas |
|
|
Registry. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 49, Health and Safety Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 49.0011 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 49.0011. GLENDA DAWSON DONATE LIFE-TEXAS REGISTRY; |
|
|
PROMOTION OF REGISTRY. (a) Any program or program component that |
|
|
the department develops under this chapter shall be known as the |
|
|
Glenda Dawson Donate Life-Texas Registry. |
|
|
(b) The department shall affiliate with any entity, |
|
|
including a national or state association concerned with organ |
|
|
donation, to promote the registry in accordance with this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
