A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the duties of the board of an emergency services |
|
|
district in connection with a proposed tax rate increase. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 775.0745, Health and Safety Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) Not later than the 30th day after the date on which the |
|
|
board issues the election order, the board shall make a |
|
|
presentation on the proposed tax rate increase, including the |
|
|
reasons for the proposed increase, to the commissioners court of |
|
|
each county in which the district is located. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 775.0745(c-1), Health and Safety Code, |
|
|
as added by this Act, applies only in connection with an election |
|
|
order issued on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
