A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the duties of the board of an emergency services
  district in connection with a proposed tax rate increase.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 775.0745, Health and Safety Code, is
  amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:
         (c-1) Not later than the 30th day after the date on which the
  board issues the election order, the board shall make a
  presentation on the proposed tax rate increase, including the
  reasons for the proposed increase, to the commissioners court of
  each county in which the district is located.
         SECTION 2.  Subsection (c-1), Section 775.0745, Health and
  Safety Code, as added by this Act, applies only in connection with
  an election order issued on or after the effective date of this Act.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
