A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the dates of administration of certain assessment |
|
|
instruments in public schools. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 39, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 39.0235 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 39.0235. DATES OF ADMINISTRATION OF CERTAIN ASSESSMENT |
|
|
INSTRUMENTS. A school district in which the first day of |
|
|
instruction for the 2007-2008 school year is five or more school |
|
|
days later than the first day of instruction for the 2006-2007 |
|
|
school year shall administer assessment instruments under Sections |
|
|
39.023(a), (b), (c), and (l) in the 2007-2008 or a later school year |
|
|
at least two calendar weeks after the date those same assessment |
|
|
instruments were administered during the 2006-2007 school year. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
