A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to information provided to a plaintiff in a small claims
court by a defendant against whom judgment is rendered.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Section 28.051(b), Government Code, is amended
to read as follows:
       (b)  If the judgment is against the defendant, the defendant
shall pay the judgment immediately.  A judgment entered against a
defendant must require that if the defendant does not pay the
judgment immediately, the defendant must provide the plaintiff with
the defendant's:
             (1)  street address and mailing address, if different;
             (2)  driver's license number or state identification
number; and
             (3)  employer's name and address.
       SECTION 2.  Section 28.051(b), Government Code, as amended
by this Act, applies only to a judgment rendered against a defendant
on or after the effective date of this Act. A judgment rendered
before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law
applicable immediately before the effective date of this Act, and
that law is continued in effect for that purpose.
       SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
