A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requiring the Department of Family and Protective |
|
|
Services to provide certain information to a foster child who |
|
|
leaves foster care. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 264, Family Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 264.014 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 264.014. PROVISION OF COPIES OF CERTAIN RECORDS. The |
|
|
department shall provide to a child, not later than the 30th day |
|
|
after the date the child turns 18 years old or is discharged from |
|
|
foster care, whichever date occurs first, a copy of: |
|
|
(1) the child's birth certificate; |
|
|
(2) the child's immunization records; and |
|
|
(3) the information contained in the child's health |
|
|
passport, if permitted under Section 266.006. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
