A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the maximum annual compensation of certain auxiliary |
|
fire fighters. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 419, Government Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 419.0323 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 419.0323. COMPENSATION OF AUXILIARY FIRE FIGHTERS IN |
|
CERTAIN DEPARTMENTS. Notwithstanding Section 419.0322(c) or any |
|
other law, a fire department may compensate, reimburse, or provide |
|
benefits in a calendar year to a person who has been designated as |
|
an auxiliary fire fighter under Section 419.0322(b) in an amount |
|
not to exceed twice the amount received by a person whose salary is |
|
equal to the federal minimum wage and who works 2,080 hours in the |
|
calendar year if the fire department has fewer than five full-time |
|
fire fighters and is located in a municipality: |
|
(1) with a population of less than 30,000 that has not |
|
adopted Chapter 143 or 174, Local Government Code; |
|
(2) that is not covered by a meet and confer agreement |
|
between the municipality and the full-time fire fighters employed |
|
by the municipality adopted under Chapter 142, Local Government |
|
Code; and |
|
(3) that does not impose an ad valorem tax on property |
|
located in the municipality. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
