CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
       WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize United Parcel Service of America, Incorporated, on the
grand occasion of its 100th anniversary, which is being celebrated
August 28, 2007, and on its many contributions to our state; and
       WHEREAS, United Parcel Service of America has served Texas
citizens, communities, and businesses since 1971; across the state,
it operates 110 facilities and employs more than 25,000 people; and
       WHEREAS, Each day, the company provides express delivery and
specialized services to over 88,000 Texans and delivers close to
one million packages, connecting people, communities, and
businesses; through its expansive transportation network, it
connects Texans with more than 200 countries around the world; and
       WHEREAS, The company places great emphasis on community
service and good citizenship and has contributed more than $6.7
million to philanthropic endeavors in Texas since 1995; and
       WHEREAS, United Parcel Service of America has had a
significant impact on this state and its citizens through its
valuable services; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby commend United Parcel Service of America, Incorporated, for
its many contributions to Texas and extend best wishes to its
leaders and employees on the occasion of its centennial
celebration; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
corporation as an expression of high regard from the Texas
Legislature.
