SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
       WHEREAS, The Texas Young Lawyers Association and its members
provide an important civic service by educating the youth of Texas
about the significance of the Civil Rights Movement, the importance
of community service, and the rule of law; and
       WHEREAS, The Texas Young Lawyers Association is comprised of
more than 22,000 young lawyers throughout Texas who volunteer their
time for various public service projects, including the development
of law-focused education curricula; and
       WHEREAS, The Texas Young Lawyers Association has a long and
successful history of generating award-winning curriculum
projects; and
       WHEREAS, The Texas Young Lawyers Association has continued
its tradition of public service with the production and
implementation of They Had a Dream Too:  Young Leaders of the Civil
Rights Movement; and
       WHEREAS, They Had a Dream Too features a 25-minute video
narrated by Professor Julian Bond; the video highlights
historically significant events and people such as Brown v. Board
of Education of Topeka, Ruby Bridges, The Little Rock Nine, The
Greensboro Four, and The Freedom Riders; and
       WHEREAS, They Had a Dream Too assists educators, challenges
and inspires students, and helps build future leaders by
highlighting the achievements of some of the thousands of youths
who helped change the world; and
       WHEREAS, Special recognition shall be given to Texas Young
Lawyers Association president Karin Crump of Austin and board of
directors members Christy Albano of McKinney, Kelly-Anne Clarke of
Galveston, Jennifer Morris of Dallas, C.E. Rhodes of Houston, Chad
Ellis of Richmond, and Clint Harbour of Austin for overseeing the
project's implementation; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby recognize the members of the Texas Young Lawyers Association
and commend them for their dedicated service to the community; and,
be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
Texas Young Lawyers Association as an expression of high regard
from the Texas Legislature.
