SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
       WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the members of the Brady High School Family, Career, and
Community Leaders of America Parliamentary Procedure team for
achieving a gold medal ranking at the organization's 2006 national
leadership meeting; and
       WHEREAS, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America is
a student-led organization which has the family as its central
focus; the group's five-day national conference was held in July of
2006 in Nashville, Tennessee; the event included presentations and
workshops on many of the issues young people face in their daily
lives; and
       WHEREAS, The Brady High School Parliamentary Procedure team
was victorious at the Region II competition held in February of 2006
and went on to defeat 28 teams at the state competition in April to
advance to the national event; at the national competition, the
Texas team demonstrated the proper use of 10 points of
parliamentary law to a panel of judges in the Senior Parliamentary
Procedure event; and
       WHEREAS, The gold medal team winners were recent graduates
Kyle Kastner, Taylor Hoffpauir, and Kelli Tally; senior Racheal
Harris; and juniors Frank Alfaro, Christina Defiore, Rebecca
Horton, and Lauren Rozelle; their advisors were family and consumer
science teachers Jacque Behrens and Sandi Kastner; and
       WHEREAS, The Brady High School Family, Career, and Community
Leaders of America Parliamentary Procedure team demonstrated
exceptional talent, poise, and perseverance as the team advanced
through its competitions on the way to achieving its gold medal
ranking; and
       WHEREAS, The award-winning students are a source of
tremendous pride to their parents, their fellow students, and the
faculty and administration at Brady High School, and they deserve
recognition for their outstanding achievements; now, therefore, be
it
       RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby commend members of the Brady High School Family, Career, and
Community Leaders of America Parliamentary Procedure team for their
notable accomplishments and congratulate them on earning a gold
medal ranking; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for them
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Legislature.
