A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing this state to |
|
license persons to conduct gaming on cruise vessels departing from |
|
or returning to a dock in this state. |
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Article III, Texas Constitution, is amended by |
|
adding Section 47-a to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 47-a. (a) In addition to any lottery or gift |
|
enterprise authorized by Section 47 of this article, the |
|
legislature by general law may authorize this state to license a |
|
person to conduct gaming, including electronic gaming, on a ship or |
|
other watercraft that is departing from or returning to a dock in |
|
this state on a cruise. |
|
(b) In this section, "electronic gaming" means a game based |
|
primarily on chance that is played for consideration by an |
|
individual on an electronic machine or video display and in which |
|
the player may win a thing of value each time the game is played. |
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 6, 2007. |
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing this state |
|
to license persons to conduct gaming, including electronic gaming, |
|
on cruise vessels departing from or returning to a dock in this |
|
state." |
