SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Oscar Garcia, who has been named the 2006 Fort Worth Man of the Year by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram; and

WHEREAS, A distinguished member of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature, Oscar has been a mainstay in the civic and political life of Tarrant County for many years; and

WHEREAS, Oscar is serving his third term in the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature; he has been a member of the executive committee since 2002, has served as chair of the insurance and technology committees, and in 2006 was named speaker pro tem of that august body; and

WHEREAS, Oscar participates in numerous other charitable and civic activities; a delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, he currently serves on the Senior Impact Council and the Public Policy Committee of the United Way, the Senior Citizens Services Board of Directors, and the North East Tarrant County Leadership Forum; he is truly deserving of legislative recognition for his many contributions to our state; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

80th Legislature, hereby commend Oscar Garcia for his many achievements and extend congratulations to him on being named the 2006 Fort Worth Man of the Year by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. Nelson
