SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 10

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Leadership Southwest, an innovative program designed for the development of tomorrow's leaders; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1984, Leadership Southwest strives to inspire the spirit of community activism, and to increase knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity concerning community issues in the cities of southwest Dallas County; and

WHEREAS, Participants in Leadership Southwest receive instruction from high-profile community and business leaders on the critical issues facing the communities in which they live; they gain personal leadership skills, build a network of contacts, and learn to identify opportunities for community involvement; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, over 750 participants have graduated from this outstanding program; many of the program participants have become community leaders, serving on boards and commissions and contributing to the betterment of southwest Dallas County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Leadership Southwest as an excellent program for the development of community leaders; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this exemplary organization as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. West, Harris, Deuell
