SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 19
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Honorable Ron Harris on the occasion of his |
|
|
retirement from the Collin County Commissioners' Court; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ron Harris was first elected Collin County judge |
|
|
in 1990 and was reelected for three additional terms; he had |
|
|
previously served on the Plano City Council; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Judge Harris is well known for his tireless efforts |
|
|
to improve air quality and transportation infrastructure in |
|
|
Collin County and North Texas, and he is noted for his leadership |
|
|
in building the George Bush Tollway and in extending the Dallas |
|
|
North Tollway; he was one of the four county judges who worked to |
|
|
establish the North Texas Tollway Authority; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He has garnered wide recognition for his work in |
|
|
transportation improvements and regional mobility issues; his |
|
|
awards include the 1997 Road Hand Award from the Texas Department |
|
|
of Transportation, the 2001 Team Award from the North Texas |
|
|
Commission, and the prestigious William J. Pitstick Regional |
|
|
Excellence Award from the North Central Texas Council of |
|
|
Governments; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He has held leadership positions with the Texas |
|
|
Emergency Communications Commission, the North Central Texas |
|
|
Council of Governments, the Texas Municipal League Health Trust, |
|
|
the Plano YMCA, the HCA Medical Center of Plano, and the Plano |
|
|
West Rotary; the Plano West Rotary designated him the Paul Harris |
|
|
Fellow in 1992 for his community service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Judge Ron Harris has dedicated many years to |
|
|
serving the best interests of the citizens of Collin County; he |
|
|
has earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues, and his |
|
|
presence on the Collin County Commissioners' Court will be |
|
|
greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
|
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend Judge Ron Harris for his |
|
|
outstanding service to the citizens of Collin County and extend |
|
|
to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
