SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 22

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Best of the West State Championship Cook Off as a Texas State Championship event; and

WHEREAS, Sponsored by the West Texas Barbecue Association, this outstanding event will bring together families, friends, and neighbors to sample the wares of the best barbecue chefs in West Texas; and

WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue and their prowess at its preparation and, through the years, the West Texas Barbecue Association has provided the ultimate in this classic Texas fare; and

WHEREAS, West Texas has long been known as a region of the state where barbecue reigns supreme; its offerings have long been famous and are known to satisfy even the most discriminating of palates; and

WHEREAS, This year's Best of the West Championship Cook Off will be held May 5, 2007, in Levelland, and the winner will be entitled to participate in the Kansas City Royal Barbecue and will earn a draw in the Jack Daniels cook off; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to all involved with the West Texas Barbecue Association for an enjoyable Best of the

West State Championship Cook Off; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the West Texas Barbecue Association as a memento of this special occasion. Duncan
