SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 45

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Nick Foles, quarterback of the Westlake High School football team, who was recently honored for his athletic and

academic achievements; and

WHEREAS, Nick was named third team All-State, first team All-Centex, first team All-District, and All-District Most Valuable Offensive Player, and he earned Academic All-District honors; and

WHEREAS, In earning these prestigious honors, Nick furthers the Westlake High School tradition of athletic and academic excellence and contributes to the school's well-earned reputation as one of the most celebrated programs in Texas high school football; and

WHEREAS, A senior quarterback on the Westlake High School Chaparrals Class 5A state finalist football team, Nick threw for 3,266 yards and 32 touchdowns this season, leading the Chaparrals to the state championship game; he became the school's all-time career leader in passing yards and touchdowns; and

WHEREAS, Nick has demonstrated great talent, determination, and athletic prowess, and he can take pride in his performance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Nick Foles on his excellent season and extend congratulations to him on being named to the All-State, All-Centex, and All-District teams; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. Watson
