SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 49
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Florida Cooper, an 18-year cancer survivor, on the
joyous occasion of her birthday; and
       WHEREAS, Her friends and family are gathering on
February 17, 2007, to celebrate her life; this generous woman
is celebrating her birthday this year by raising money for the
Hanging Tough Garden Cottage and Resource Center; and
       WHEREAS, Open 24 hours, seven days a week, the Hanging
Tough Garden Cottage and Resource Center provides services that
minister to the needs of individuals facing breast cancer,
prostate cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, and other forms of cancer;
and
       WHEREAS, Flo is well known for her courage, her compassion
for others, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the
fullest; she is truly deserving of recognition for her many
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Florida Cooper for her resolve
and determination and extend to her best wishes in all her future
endeavors; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
