SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 50
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay |
|
tribute to Rosie Lee Rand on the grand occasion of her 100th |
|
birthday; and |
|
WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her charm and |
|
generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of Houston; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Rosie Lee Rand was born February 10, 1907, in |
|
Jefferson, Texas, to Will and Fannie Shepard; she married |
|
Frank Lee, and the couple had a son, Freddy Lee; she later married |
|
Clyde E. Rand and was a loving wife for 49 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, A talented seamstress, she is known for the |
|
beautiful clothing and hats she makes; she also worked for many |
|
years at the National Bank of Commerce in Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community, |
|
Mrs. Rand is noted for her courage, her compassion for others, |
|
and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; and |
|
WHEREAS, In celebration of her birthday, her friends are |
|
gathering on February 10, 2007, at the Holy Bible Way Church in |
|
Houston to share in this inspiring milestone in her life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby recognize Rosie Lee Rand as a treasured |
|
citizen of our state; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her as a memento of this special day in her life. |
