SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 50
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
tribute to Rosie Lee Rand on the grand occasion of her 100th
birthday; and
       WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her charm and
generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of Houston;
and
       WHEREAS, Rosie Lee Rand was born February 10, 1907, in
Jefferson, Texas, to Will and Fannie Shepard; she married
Frank Lee, and the couple had a son, Freddy Lee; she later married
Clyde E. Rand and was a loving wife for 49 years; and
       WHEREAS, A talented seamstress, she is known for the
beautiful clothing and hats she makes; she also worked for many
years at the National Bank of Commerce in Houston; and
       WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community,
Mrs. Rand is noted for her courage, her compassion for others,
and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; and
       WHEREAS, In celebration of her birthday, her friends are
gathering on February 10, 2007, at the Holy Bible Way Church in
Houston to share in this inspiring milestone in her life; now,
therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby recognize Rosie Lee Rand as a treasured
citizen of our state; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as a memento of this special day in her life.
