SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 57
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
join the citizens of Arlington in recognizing January 31, 2007, |
|
|
as Team Arlington Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Team Arlington works to advance the interests |
|
|
of the City of Arlington through a visible, proactive presence |
|
|
in Austin and Washington, D.C.; coalition members include the |
|
|
City of Arlington, The University of Texas at Arlington, |
|
|
Tarrant County, the Tarrant County Community College Southeast |
|
|
Campus, the Arlington Independent School District, the |
|
|
Tarrant County Workforce Development Board, the Arlington |
|
|
Chamber of Commerce, and the Hispanic, African-American, and |
|
|
Asian-American Chambers of Commerce; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A city of 365,000, Arlington is known asthe |
|
|
Entertainment Capital of Texas; it is home to the original |
|
|
Six Flags Over Texas, the Hurricane Harbor water park, and the |
|
|
Texas Rangers Major League Baseball Club; it is the future home |
|
|
of the new $650 million Dallas Cowboys Stadium; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The University of Texas at Arlington is a |
|
|
30,000-student, state-of-the-art research and engineering |
|
|
university, and Arlington's Tarrant County Community College |
|
|
Southeast Campus offers excellent college programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With a well-educated population and a welcoming |
|
|
environment for business, Arlington has become the third-largest |
|
|
city in North Texas, and Team Arlington can take pride in its role |
|
|
in the city's growth and prosperity; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend Team Arlington for its |
|
|
exemplary work on behalf of the City of Arlington and extend |
|
|
best wishes to its members for a celebratory Team Arlington Day |
|
|
at the State Capitol; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
this organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
