SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 134
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased |
|
|
to recognize Dr. Baker Pattillo, who is being named president |
|
|
of Stephen F. Austin State University on January 30, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since Dr. Baker Pattillo was a college student, |
|
|
Stephen F. Austin State University has been an important part of |
|
|
his life; he has served as interim president for Stephen F. Austin |
|
|
State University since his appointment to the position in |
|
|
July, 2006, by unanimous vote of the board of regents; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native Texan, he attended Stephen F. Austin |
|
|
State University and earned a bachelor's degree in English and |
|
|
history and a master's degree in education; he received a doctorate |
|
|
in educational administration from Texas A&M University in 1971; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He began working for the university in 1966 as |
|
|
assistant director of placement and student financial aid; during |
|
|
his notable career, he has served as director of placement and |
|
|
student financial aid, dean of student services, vice president |
|
|
for student affairs, and vice president for university affairs; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Pattillo has spent his venerable career |
|
|
dedicated to caring for the needs of the students and the staff |
|
|
and faculty members at Stephen F. Austin State University; he |
|
|
has continually renewed his commitment to the university, and the |
|
|
students, faculty, alumni, and community have greatly benefited |
|
|
from his effective leadership; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby congratulate Dr. Baker Pattillo on his |
|
|
|
|
|
appointment as president of Stephen F. Austin State University |
|
|
and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
