SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 149
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Von Washington, whose company, Monument Technical |
|
Services, Incorporated, has been named Minority Veteran-Owned |
|
Business of the Year by the El Paso Small Business Consortium and |
|
the Small Business Administration office; and |
|
WHEREAS, A former major in the United States Army, |
|
Von Washington founded Monument Technical Services, |
|
Incorporated, in 2002; the company is a defense industry |
|
consulting firm that specializes in testing and evaluating |
|
weapons systems; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Washington has drawn upon the skills he honed |
|
in the military to help make his company a success; the |
|
discipline, work ethic, and teamwork necessary to succeed as an |
|
officer have stood him in good stead as he has shepherded his |
|
young company to success; and |
|
WHEREAS, Von Washington has worked on the Patriot missile |
|
system, the THAAD long-range missile, and the Avenger weapon |
|
system; he plans to add over 100 employees in the next five years |
|
in light of expected military growth at Fort Bliss and other |
|
El Paso-area military installations; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend Von Washington on his many |
|
accomplishments and extend congratulations to him on the success |
|
of Monument Technical Services, Incorporated; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
