SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 166
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Art and Pam Burdick, who are receiving the Roy Maas
Humanitarian Award for their many contributions to the
betterment of the youth of San Antonio; and
       WHEREAS, Roy Maas dedicated his life to helping abused,
neglected, and abandoned children, and his vision and commitment
led to the formation of Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives,
Incorporated; this exemplary organization has helped over 58,000
children since 1976; and
       WHEREAS, The owners of Burdick Custom Homes,
Art and Pam Burdick have been strong supporters of Roy Maas'
Youth Alternatives, Incorporated, for many years; they have
volunteered their time, sponsored fund-raising efforts, chaired
committees, and during the last two years have contributed over
$200,000 to the organization; and
       WHEREAS, The Roy Maas Humanitarian Award will be presented
to the Burdicks at a special luncheon on February 16, 2007; they
truly deserve legislative recognition for their charitable work
with this outstanding organization; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Art and Pam Burdick for their
generosity and dedication to the youth of San Antonio and extend
congratulations to them on receiving the Roy Maas Humanitarian
Award; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
