SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 171
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Alliance of North Houston Chambers of Commerce, |
|
|
whose representatives are celebrating their special day at the |
|
|
State Capitol on February 6, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Chambers of commerce are among the most respected |
|
|
and influential organizations in communities today in promoting |
|
|
business interests and economic development; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Alliance of North Houston Chambers of Commerce |
|
|
was created in 1994 to foster regional support and cooperation |
|
|
among area chambers; the alliance depends on the governing bodies |
|
|
of individual chambers of commerce to propose, review, and |
|
|
approve legislative positions and regional policy statements; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Representing almost 5,000 businesses in north and |
|
|
northwest Harris County and south Montgomery County, the |
|
|
alliance has proven to be an effective tool for facilitating |
|
|
regional economic development and joint discussions on public |
|
|
policy issues; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through the hard work and dedication of the |
|
|
members of the alliance and of their support staff, the Alliance |
|
|
of North Houston Chambers of Commerce is a strong and effective |
|
|
advocate for area businesses in Harris and Montgomery Counties; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby extend a warm welcome to alliance members, |
|
|
staff members, and friends of the Alliance of North Houston |
|
|
Chambers of Commerce who are visiting the State Capitol and |
|
|
designate February 6, 2007, as Alliance of North Houston Chambers |
|
|
of Commerce Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
