SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 176
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Arlington in recognizing Cavan Lewis Larnard of
Boy Scout Troop 222, who recently attained the rank of
Eagle Scout, a rank achieved by only five out of every 100 boys
in the program; and
       WHEREAS, Cavan began his scouting experience in 1996 and
earned the Arrow of the Light, Cub Scouting's highest award;
since 1998, he has been a member of the distinguished Tejas
District Color Guard and performed with the group in two
gubernatorial and two presidential inauguration ceremonies;
and
       WHEREAS, He has shown his leadership skills as a patrol
leader, quartermaster, and historian, and he designed and
planned a memorial garden for his service project; he earned
33 merit badges, for which he will receive the Bronze and Gold
Palms; and
       WHEREAS, By becoming an Eagle Scout, this personable young
man has brought great distinction to himself, his family, his
troop, and his community; and
       WHEREAS, Cavan is an exceptional representative of the
State of Texas and a sterling example to all who have the good
fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Cavan Lewis Larnard for earning
the rank of Eagle Scout and congratulate him on his great
achievement; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Eagle Scout Larnard as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
