SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 180
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
to recognize Travis Allan Bryan, who recently established
House of Brienne, Incorporated; and
       WHEREAS, The ancient and noble Frankish House of Brienne
was established and ennobled more than a millennium ago in France;
the House of Brienne, Incorporated, represents the ancestry and
rich history of the Brienne family; and
       WHEREAS, Travis Bryan was born in Pasadena on
November 2, 1980, to Michael Rex Bryan, Sr., and Marla Lynn Starkey;
he is a fourth-generation native Texan; in 2000, he married
Kelly Michelle Haire, also a native Texan and the daughter of
James Dale Haire and Margaret Elizabeth Chennault; together
they have three beautiful children, Joshua Dylan, Matthew Allan,
and Brianna Renée; and
       WHEREAS, As an adjunct professor at San Jacinto College
and a part-time emergency medical technician, Travis still finds
time to attend school full-time at the University of Houston and
Liberty University; he has been honored academically by Phi Theta
Kappa, the National Dean's List, the Chancellor's List, National
Scholars Honor Society, and Who's Who Among Students in American
Junior Colleges; and
       WHEREAS, Travis is a member of the Pasadena Rotary Club,
Kenedy Commandery 61, and Rosewyn Chapter 927, O.E.S.; he also
holds endowed memberships in Galena Park Lodge 1290, the Houston
Scottish Rite, the Arabia Shrine Center, and Pasadena Chapter 455
and Council 374; and
       WHEREAS, As a soldier in the Texas State Guard, Travis
served honorably during Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita and
served on the Texas-Mexico border during Operation Lone Star 2006;
he is currently enrolled in the Army Reserve Officers' Training
Corps at the University of Houston; and
       WHEREAS, Travis has twice received the Gold President's
Volunteer Service Award from the President's Council on Service
and Civic Participation for his dedicated volunteer service as
an emergency medical technician and for his service as a soldier
in the Texas State Guard; and
       WHEREAS, As a proud husband, father, and Texan, Travis
believes in the importance of knowing and understanding the history
of his family; he conducts historical and genealogical research
on the Brienne family and other related families; and
       WHEREAS, Travis is a direct descendant of Englebert I de Brienne,
a knight and the first Count of Brienne; Englebert I and his
brother, Gobert, conquered Brienne-le-Chateau in approximately
950 A.D.; Brienne-le-Chateau was the capitol town of the French
countship of Brienne; and
       WHEREAS, Travis seeks to preserve the legacy and history of
his family for generations to come; he also wants to assist other
families in learning more about the history of their families and
preserving the same; thus, on January 3, 2007, he incorporated
House of Brienne, Incorporated, through the Office of the Texas
Secretary of State; and
       WHEREAS, House of Brienne, Incorporated, is dedicated to
providing historical and genealogical services to the many
residents of the State of Texas and citizens of the United States
who wish to know the history of their families; now, therefore,
be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby proclaim Travis Allan Bryan a treasured
citizen of Pasadena and our state and extend congratulations to
him on his incorporation of House of Brienne, Incorporated;
and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
