SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 181
       WHEREAS, Newton and Beth Bond made a lifetime commitment
to each other when they were married many years ago, and they
have been amply rewarded for they are now celebrating their
65th wedding anniversary; and
       WHEREAS, Newton and Beth were married on February 7, 1942,
in Athens, Texas; shortly after their wedding, Newton was
inducted into the United States Air Corps and served during
World War II in the Southwest Pacific and Philippine liberation
campaigns and as a member of the Japanese occupation force; and
       WHEREAS, A few years after the war, the couple moved to
Baytown, where Newton worked in the chemical adhesive industry
and Beth worked in retail marketing and as a professional
seamstress; in 1973, they returned to the Central Texas area and
lived in Corsicana, near their childhood homes; they moved to
Greenville in September of 2005 and now live at Colonial Lodge;
and
       WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the
years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Bond have cherished
traditional family and moral values; over the years, their love
has grown stronger as together they have experienced the joys
and sorrows of everyday living; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Bond have been blessed with a
wonderful family and are beloved by their children, Paula Ivey,
Ange Moreland, and Kent Bond and by their six grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren; the long and happy union of this
distinguished couple is truly an inspiration to all who know
them; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Newton Bond
on the splendid occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary; and,
be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Mr. and Mrs. Bond as a memento of this special day in their lives.
