SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 209
 
  In Memory
  of
  Dorothy Dowell Bryan
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Dorothy Dowell Bryan, who died
  January 31, 2007, at the age of 78; and
         WHEREAS, Dorothy Dowell was born in Houston on
  February 6, 1928, to Martin and LaVeeda Dowell; she married the
  love of her life, William F. Bryan, on February 2, 1951; and
         WHEREAS, She was the first woman to be elected to the board
  of trustees of the Northeast Independent School District; until
  her illness prevented it, she volunteered every week at the
  headquarters of the Bexar County Republican Party; and
         WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she was a member of the
  Covenant Presbyterian Church for 50 years; all who knew her will
  long remember her charm, her courage, and her generous spirit; and
         WHEREAS, She was a dearly beloved mother and grandmother,
  and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured for years
  to come by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
  bereaved family of Dorothy Dowell Bryan: her daughters and
  sons-in-law, Pam and Eddie Davis, Julie McClure, and
  Justice Sandee Bryan Marion and Dr. Homero R. Garza; her
  grandchildren, Rachael Huff, Joshua Davis, Natalee Marion,
  Elizabeth McClure, William McClure, and Nicole Garza; and her
  five great-grandchildren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of Dorothy Dowell Bryan.
